Betty Lou Larson, 83, of Austin, died on Monday, October 13, 2014 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Home in Austin. Betty was born in Adams on April 14, 1931 to Wilhelm and Pauline (Weis) Finkelson. She attended St. Augustine Catholic School. Betty married Harry Vernell Larson in September of 1949 at Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Harry died on August 12, 1994. Betty worked as a cook at Ellis School from 1965 until her retirement in 1995. She also was an aide on the school buses. Betty enjoyed playing slot machines, traveling and dancing. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and keeping them happy. Betty is survived by children, Vern “Buck” (Sue) Larson and Carolyn (Bill) Hagen both of Austin; grandchildren, Tina, Jami, Ryan, Andy, Martinque, Patrick, Justin and Bethany; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Warren (Audrey) Finkelson of Austin; a sister, Ruth (Gordon) Gobin of Rochester; sister-in-law Gudrun Schlensner of Stockon, MO; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Betty is preceded in death by her parents; husband Harry; son Donald; two daughters; Cheryl and Diane; daughter-in-law Marguerite; siblings Jim and Richard; sister-in-law Betty Funeral service will be held on Friday, October 17, 2014 at 10:30 am at Mayer Funeral Home with Fr. Jim Steffes officiating. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
