Benny D. Thompson, age 86, formerly of Austin, passed away on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 in Salt Lake City, Utah, from complications recovering from a recent surgery. Survivors include seven children, Gary (Mary), Tempe, AZ, Sherry (Blane) Christensen, West Valley City, UT, Dawn Rooks, Layton, UT, Melody (Kay) Clegg, Idaho Falls, ID, Braun, Tucson, AZ, David (Sue), Eagle, ID, Faith (Doug) Snater, Austin, MN; daughter-in-law, Sheri Thompson, New Ulm, MN; 40 grandchildren; 80 great grandchildren; brothers, Ronald (Lorene), Rochester, MN, Daniel (Carol), Fairfax, MN; sisters, Wanda (Bud) Overby, Austin, MN, Nancy (Vern) Tripp, Layton, UT, Judith Moon, Layton, UT. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 404 31st St. NW, Austin with Brother Keith Blake officiating. Friends may call from 6-8 pm on Monday at Mayer Funeral Home and also one hour before the service at the church on Tuesday. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post #91 and V.F.W. Post #1216.
