Barbara Jean Sheely

Barbara Jean Sheely, age 75, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Mayo Clinic Hospital Rochester, Saint Marys Campus.

Barbara was born in Austin, Minnesota, to Kenneth and Harriett (Rudlong) Iverson. She attended and graduated from Austin High School. Barbara married Dean Sheely on July 26, 1986, at First United Methodist Church in Austin. She worked various jobs for Austin Packaging and canning companies. Barb was a wonderful mother who cared deeply for her children. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, crocheting, knitting, embroidery, and some sewing. She loved to watch crime shows, including Criminal Minds, NCIS, and CSI. Barb enjoyed making memories with her family, including going to the race track in Brownsdale to watch Ashley race, seeing her grandkids, and she filled her time talking on the phone, especially with her siblings. Barb loved to go shopping and find the deals.

Barb is survived by her husband of 40 years, Dean Sheely of Austin; children, Ashley (Don) Sidle of Austin and Josh (Michelle) Sheely of Austin; grandchildren, Layla and Lane; siblings, Duanne (Charlotte) Iverson of St. Paul, Gary (Nancy) Iverson of Albert Lea, Linda (Larry) Wilson of St. Charles, Debbie (Bill) Smith of Montana, Michael (Sana) Iverson of Jordan, and Tom (Barb) Iverson of Austin. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Harriett Iverson, and sister, Nancy Dickerson.

A funeral service for Barbara will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 7, 2026, at Worlein-Hoff Funeral Home in Austin. The visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Brownsdale, Minnesota. Worlein-Hoff Funeral Homes of Austin are assisting the family with arrangements.
