Barbara Kay Hylle

Barbara Kay Hylle, age 71, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 6, 2026, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Home with family by her side after a short battle with cancer. She was born on October 13, 1954, in Austin, Minnesota, the daughter of Bernard and Doris Hylle. Barb grew up in Austin and graduated from Austin High School in 1973. Barb then attended Golden Valley Lutheran College and Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. She also earned advanced degrees in Long Term Care. She held several successful positions; her most recent was Director of Nursing for the Benedictine Living Community of Minneapolis. She was also very active in the Minnesota Director of Nursing Association earning the Nurse Administrator of the year in 2005.

When Barb was not working, she enjoyed spending time with family, fishing trips to Whitefish Lake, attending dog trials with her sister, trips to Yellowstone National Park and vacationing with her sister out west. Barb will be missed by her family, including brothers and sister, nieces and nephew, cousins, and countless coworkers and friends who visited Barb during her illness.

Barb is survived by her brother, Paul Hylle of Grand Meadow; sister, Denise Hylle of Sheridan, Wyoming; brother, John (Melody) Hylle of Owatonna; nephew, Sam Hylle and fiancée, (Gigi Behun) of New Brighton; and nieces, Lauren Hylle of St. Louis Park, and Audrey Hylle of Minneapolis. Barb was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Doris.

A memorial service for Barb will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 16, 2026, at Worlein-Hoff Funeral Home in Austin, Minnesota. The visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Worlein-Hoff Funeral Homes of Austin are assisting the family with arrangements.
