Arleigh Duane Austinson

Arleigh Duane Austinson, age 77, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday morning, October 12, 2023, at his home in Lyle, Minnesota. Arleigh was born on September 12, 1946, in Austin, Minnesota, to Lavern and Mildred (Heard) Austinson. He grew up on a farm east of Lyle with his brother, Carroll. He was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith at Six Mile Grove Lutheran Church. Arleigh attended Lyle Public School from K-12^th grade, graduating in 1964. While in high school, he lettered in several sports and met his high school sweetheart, Gloria Hotson. The couple married in 1968 and were soon welcoming their three daughters, Heidi, Heather, and Hilary. Arleigh lived with four women; needless to say, he was a wonderful provider and pushover. He was a hard worker and spent 43 years working at Hormel Foods in Austin. Arleigh lived a full life consisting of cards, bowling, horseshoes, softball, and visiting his many friends and relatives, whom he cherished very much. He especially loved golfing during the summer months. He had relationships with people of all personalities and backgrounds. Arleigh was blessed with a wonderful sense of humor. Where there was laughter, there was Arleigh.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Gloria Austinson of Lyle, MN; daughters, Heidi Austinson-Morrison of Jordan, MN, Heather Austinson of Lyle, MN, and Hilary Austinson (Kulshan Gandhok) of Prior Lake, MN; two granddaughters, Jadah Morrison of Jordan, MN and Bianca Austinson-Gandhok of Prior Lake, MN. Arleigh was preceded in death by his parents, Lavern and Mildred Austinson; brother, Carroll Austinson; and many close friends and relatives.
