America Kroupa

America Kroupa, age 80, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at Ostrander Care and Rehab in Ostrander, Minnesota. America Gordón was born on February 28, 1945, in Colón, Republic of Panama to Jorge and Martina (Sanguillen) Gordón (both deceased). She graduated from high school in Panama and later went to a dressmaking school. In 1971, America was united in marriage to Kenneth Kroupa who was stationed at the Fort Sherman Army base in Panama.

America is survived by her husband, Ken of Austin; sons, Stephen Kroupa and his daughter, Aden, of Traverse City, Michigan, and Marcos Kroupa (wife, Jennifer and son, Harrison) of Grand Junction, Colorado; sisters, Gliceria Gordón of Panama City, Panama, Violet McPhee of Beaverton, Oregon, and Martina Murray of Portland, Oregon; brother, Osvaldo Gordón of Panama City, Panama; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Yovanna Marie Kroupa; brothers, Lorenzo, Marcos, Carlos, Jorge, and Oscar; and sisters, Alicia, Prudencia, and Florencia.

America was a great homemaker, wife, mother, and sister who loved her family and brought happiness into the world around her. The family expresses special gratitude to the caregivers and patients at Ostrander Care and Rehab for making her last 2 months more cheerful.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial for America will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 20, 2025, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Austin, with Father Thien Nguyen officiating. The visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Peninsula Township Cemetery on Old Mission Peninsula, at Traverse City, Michigan, at a later time. Memorials can be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation or a charity of your choice. Worlein-Hoff Funeral Homes of Austin are assisting the family with arrangements.
