Ada Lorraine Mathews

Ada Lorraine Mathews, age 78, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away Sunday, September 14, 2025, at Our House Memory Care in Austin. Ada was born March 15, 1947, in rural Luther, Boone County, Iowa, to Cleo Sr. and Mary (Russell) Carroll. She graduated from Boone High School in 1966. Ada spent many years in laundry services, as well as working as a dietary aide and cleaning in medical clinics. On November 22, 1968, she married Larry Mathews in Boone, Iowa, and together had two daughters, Tammy and Mary. The couple later divorced.

Survivors include her daughters, Tammy (Troy) Kruse of Lake Havasu City, Arizona and Mary (Marshall) Kraft of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota; three grandchildren, Shelby Kruse and Cheyne Quinn, Shana Kruse and Chris Early, and Hailey (Brad) Hein-Booton; four great-grandchildren, Dayton Quinn, Rylen Quinn, Lillian Hauge, and Vivian Hauge; and sister, Kathleen Dorothy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cleo Sr. and Mary Carroll; brothers, Cleo Carroll, Jr. and Jackie Carroll; sisters, Leola “Maggie” Schmidt and June Wharry.

A celebration of life for Ada will be held at a later date. Private family interment will be in Boone Memorial Gardens in Boone, Iowa. Memorials are preferred to the family to be used at their discretion. Worlein-Hoff Funeral Homes of Austin are assisting the family with arrangements.
