December 4, 1921 — July 5, 2020

Lucille “Lucy” Sophia Peterson, age 98 of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, passed away Sunday, July 5, 2020 at her home in Blooming Prairie. Lucille Sophia Hartle was born December 4, 1921 in Somerset Township, Steele County, Minnesota, to William and Mary (Seykora) Hartle. She attended country school District #25 and Owatonna High School, graduating in 1939. Prior to her marriage, Lucy provided bookkeeping services to the Steele County USDA, Steele County Creamery, E.F. Co-op, the Milk Association, and Butter Shipping Association. On April 25, 1946, Lucy was united in marriage to Gerald Peterson at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Owatonna, Minnesota. Together they purchased a farm north of Blooming Prairie in 1947. They lived on the farm until 1968, when they moved to Blooming Prairie. Their marriage was blessed with five children. Lucy continued to do bookkeeping at Prairie Oil, Harriet’s Dres-Wel, and the Blooming Prairie Country Club. Lucy was a gifted stained glass artist and created many beautiful pieces for her family and friends. She enjoyed dancing, golfing, bowling, bicycling, and was a fierce competitor while playing Bridge, 500, Dominoes, and board games. Lucy loved time spent outdoors on her lawn mower. Her greatest joy was time spent with her family. She was a member of St. Columbanus Catholic Church, a life member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary, and the Red Hat Club. Lucy will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
