Kara Erickson

Kara Jo Erickson, age 50, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at her home in Austin, surrounded by her loving family. Kara Jo Johnson was born in Gaylord, Minnesota to Randy and Sharon (Bebensee) Johnson on February 19, 1971. She graduated high school in Sartell, Minnesota and went on to attend Rasmussen College, where she attained her associate degree. Kara was a homemaker by love. For 12 years she stayed home and enjoyed raising her four children. When her children got older, she worked various jobs over the years including at the Northfield Hospitals and Clinics, and then at The Villa in New Brighton, Minnesota. On August 1, 2015, Kara married Peter Erickson in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. She enjoyed crafting, cooking and baking, knitting, and flower gardening. She especially loved her gerbera daisies. Kara was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister. She had the biggest heart and was always very caring and giving. She was known for the quote “you are killing me smalls.” Family was Kara’s top priority, and she cherished her time with them. She will be fondly remembered and dearly missed.

Survivors include her parents, Randy and Sharon Johnson of Florence, AZ; husband, Peter Erickson of Austin, MN; children, Kaylyn (Matt) Rheineck of Farmington, MN, Jordan (John) Barsness of Hastings, MN, Samantha Rossmeisl of Overland Park, Kansas, Nathan (Jasmine) Rossmeisl of Fort Bragg, NC, Dausha (Matt) Wright of Gardner, KS, and Peter (Amber) Erickson of St. Augustine, FL; three grandchildren, John Barsness, Easton Rheineck, and Benjamin Erickson; siblings, Chad (Michelle) Johnson of Deltona, FL, Lance (Shelley) Johnson of Henderson, NV, Kristen (Brad) Petron of Cambridge, MN; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; and her beloved dog, Daisy. She was preceded in death by her grandparents.

Interment will take place in Memorial Hill Cemetery, Lake Benton, Minnesota. Worlein Funeral Home of Austin is assisting the family with arrangements.
