Obituary

Marlon D. Blair, age 75, died at his home in Austin, surrounded by his family on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born June 9, 1935 to Lyle and Hattie (Peterson) Blair in Swea City, Iowa. He attended country school in Iowa before moving with his family to Minnesota where he graduated from Huntley High School in 1954. He married Donna Butler on April 27, 1963 at East Lutheran Church in Delavan, Minnesota. They made their home in Winnebago the first year of their marriage. Marlon was a glazier at glass companies. His work included a variety of glass jobs including many stained glass windows for churches. He worked for Vets Glass in Winnebago until moving to Austin in 1964 when he began work for The Glass Shop. After 10 years he went to work for Ford-McNutt Glass in Rochester. He then spent 17 years at Greene Doors and Hardware in Dodge Center. He retired in 2005 after 51 years' work. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, the Eagle's and the Oak Park Village Board of Directors. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, yard work, flowers and spending time with family, especially his grandsons. Marlon loved sports, including the Vikings, Twins and Gophers.

Survivors include his wife, Donna; two daughters, Julie (Pat) Farnsworth and Kimberley Blair, all of Austin; two grandchildren, Justin and Logan; brothers, Lyle "Gene" (Carol) Blair of Minneapolis; Ronald (Linda) Blair of Winnebago; Paul (Carol) Blair of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas; sister, Carolyn (David) Hillier of Austin; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Richard Butler of Winnebago; Lorraine (Pierre) Willette of Blue Earth and Joyce (Richard) Scofield of Winnebago; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, father-in-law, an infant daughter, Amy and a sister-in-law, Janis Federline.

Memorials are preferred to donors choice.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 16, 2010 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Austin. Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin and at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment is at Oakwood Cemetery, Austin.
