Obituary
Deverne M. Anderson, age 60, of Lyle, Minnesota died Sunday January 22, 2012 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester. He was born February 22, 1951 in Austin, Minnesota to Marvin and Dorothy (Lundene) Anderson. Deverne grew up in Austin, graduating from Austin High School in 1969. He enlisted in the United States Army, serving from 1969 to 1972. In 1985 he moved to Lyle. He was employed as a construction worker. Deverne composed and played music, and was known as ‘Papa Vern the Guitar Player’. He enjoyed doing puzzles, playing cribbage, and was a man who was very generous with his time and talents.
Survivors include his son Rodney Ross of Waseca; daughters Tonya Storlie of Austin, Barbi (Jim) Larson of Thief River Falls, Minnesota, Jennifer Anderson and Kari Anderson, both of Waseca; thirteen grandchildren; one great grandchild; sisters Marilyn Bublitz of Osage, Iowa, Marlene Tate, Rose Anderson, and Gloria Anderson, all of Austin, Kristine (Doug) Kastenschmidt of Winona; brothers Paul (Sharon) Anderson of Springfield, Oregon, Dale Anderson and Ronald (Mary) Anderson, both of Austin, John Anderson of Plainview, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Dorothy Anderson, and sister Cecilia Johnson.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday January 27, 2012 at the Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin. Visitation will be held from noon to 2:00 p.m. the day of the service. Interment will take place at a later date. Military rites by American Legion Post 91. Memorials are preferred to the family.
